Open Enrollment Ends Friday
(IRN)-Time is running out to enroll in or change your Medicare plan.

In Illinois roughly 1.7 million people are enrolled in Medicare. Michael McRaith, director of the Illinois Department of Insurance, says there is help available before open enrollment ends at the end of the day Friday.

"Through our toll-free hotline and free counseling sessions, we can help eligible individuals compare costs and coverage and provide information on new protections under the Affordable Care Act," McRaith said.

McRaith says there has been a big push by his staff to get the word out about the deadline.

The Illinois Department of Insurance Senior Health Insurance Program can help Medicare eligible individuals determine how they would like to receive their benefits next year. Those who would like assistance can call SHIP staff at 800-548-9034. Help is also available online at http://insurance.illinois.gov/ship.
