Galesburg City Manager Selected
Galesburg city council members have selected a new city manager.

Todd Thompson currently of Mexico, Missouri was the top pick from over 70 candidates presented to the city council.

For the past three years, Thompson has worked in Mexico, Missouri as the city manger and oversaw six departments in a town of 11-thousand people.

Before that Thompson was Assistant City Administrator for Raymore, Missouri with a population of 16-thousand and was also was management assistant in Lee's Summit Missouri with 70-thousand people.

In a press release Thompson says he looks forward to working closely with Mayor Sal Garza and the city council as well as city staff.

City council members will consider Thompson's employment contract at their next scheduled meeting Monday, December 6th, which begins at 6:30.

If approved, Thompson will begin his duties Monday, January 31st, and will be paid 122-thousand, 5-hundred dollars a year.

Interim City Manager Craig Whitehead will be leaving Galesburg December 17th to take a position in Utah.

Public Works Director Larry Cox will serve as interim city manager until Thompson arrives.
