Lincoln Museum Has New Director
(IRN) -- A new leader comes to Springfield this month to run the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

Eileen Mackevich is a founder of the Chicago Humanities Council and had also headed the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.

The library and museum had been without a full-time director for more than two years, but Mackevich says dedicated senior staff are needed to bring the organization to its full potential. Mackevich says she hopes her experience will translate to new connections -- nationally and internationally -- for the big museum.

Jan Grimes, head of the Illinois Historical Preservation Agency, added the museum and library to her duties in 2008, after the previous director, Rick Beard, was fired after a shoplifting arrest in Springfield.
