Fifth Plea in Kiwanis Park Shooting Case
The fifth of six people accused in the fatal shooting at Kiwanis Park in Galesburg last June has pleaded guilty.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 19-year old Michael Fisher pleaded guilty Monday to a single felony count of obstruction of justice. In exchange, five other counts including First-Degree Murder Accountability will be dismissed, once Fisher testifies in the murder case against his father, 46-year old Overton Fisher.

Overton Fisher allegedly shot 21-year old Jemell Ware in late-June during a dispute at Kiwanis Park. Ware was pronounced dead a short time later at a local hospital.

He'll next be in court January third for a pre-trial conference.

In the meantime, Michael Fisher, 18-year old Michael Garrett, and 24-year old Albert Carter all will be back in court for sentencing hearings in February after all pleaded guilty to identical charges. A 16-year old male also has pleaded guilty, and most charges were dismissed against 21-year old Kareem Dixon. He's still scheduled for a pre-trial conference January 3rd on charges of Obstruction of Justice.

Overton Fisher is the only one of the six that remains jailed.
