New Superintendent Selected for Monmouth-Roseville
A new superintendent has been picked for the Monmouth-Roseville School District, and, like his predecessor, it will be his first superintendent position.

The District-238 School Board Tuesday night voted to hire Ed Fletcher of the Staunton area along I-55 in southern Illinois, effective July first to replace Paul Woehlke, who was told with a year left to go on his contract it would not be renewed.

Fletcher has been principal or assistant principal in other districts, mostly in the Saint Louis area, but tells WGIL Monmouth-Roseville is the type of area he thought he'd end up in.

"My wife and I, when we've looked at where we want to settle, it's always been a town around this size with a small college," he said. "That's what I mean by destination job. This is the perfect place we've always wanted to be to raise our family."

Fletcher was signed to a three-year contract, with a total salary package of $155,000 a year.

Fletcher says he wants to improve test scores, and praised Woehlke for his handling of the district's finances, given cuts in recent years and problems with school funding at the state level.
