Local Tie to Fatal New York City Elevator Accident
There is a local connection to a fatal accident Wednesday in New York City.

WCBS Radio in New York reports that the victim in Wednesday's accident -- 41-year old Suzanne Hart -- was a graduate of Galesburg's Knox College.

The radio station says Hart was stepping on to an elevator at the midtown Manhattan office where she worked yesterday morning when she became caught as the doors closed, dragging her as the elevator shot upward, killing her virtually instantly.

Hart -- an advertising executive -- graduated from Knox in 1993 with degrees in art and international relations. A page with her name on it published on Facebook confirms that.

The elevator was inspected earlier this year, WCBS says, and no problems were found.

The AP says Hart was a graduate of a high school in California. She's not believed to be from Galesburg.
