Not Guilty Plea in Attempted Murder Case
A Galesburg man will be back in court in early February on charges accusing him of beating and sexually assaulting a woman, now that he's pleaded not guilty to the crimes.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 30-year old Cody Thomas pleaded not guilty Thursday to three-counts of attempted first-degree murder, two-counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, and one-count of aggravated battery.

Thomas was arrested November 25th, after police were called to a home in the five-hundred block of Liberty Street. Thomas allegedly beat a 34-year old woman over the head with a brick, and also committed non-consensual sex acts.

The victim is still believed to be recovering from injuries to her head and face, and at least one public rally has been held in support of her.

Thomas remains held in the Knox County Jail on a half-million dollars bond. His next scheduled court date is February sixth when he'll have a pre-trial hearing.
