Woman Gets Reduced Sentence in Meth Case
A Galesburg woman is getting a chance at recovery instead of prison time after being sentenced this week in a felony methamphetamine investigation.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 23-year old Amanda Burns was sentenced to two-years of drug probation, along with 50-hours of community service, after being convicted of a single count of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Burns and three others were arrested in early April after police received reports of a suspicious odor coming from a North Farnham Street home. The State Police Meth Response Team reportedly found meth and a number of items used in meth manufacturing.

Burns faced a half-dozen felony meth-related charges in the case. All of them were dropped.

One of the three others arrested -- 29-year old Zachary Petersimes -- was sentenced last week to four years of probation and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service for participation in meth maufacturing.
