Junction Gas Station Seeking Annexation into Knoxville
The owner of the Junction Gas Station on US Highway 150 says he's very interested in being annexed into Knoxville according to the city's highest ranking official.

Mayor Pro Tem Bob Johnson says Mr. Patel is a Knoxville resident who wants to raise his family in the city, and wishes to strengthen his ties to the city-- of course there's financial benefits as well.

"The water rate, my guess is probably also the liquor license would be one, the garabage pickup would be less if they join us," Johnson said. "And again here's someone who wants to join. We have to make sure we do everything by the book, have our attorney in this."

City Attorney Rob McCoy suggests annexing RP Lumbar in also as a package deal because there's interest there too. Johnson says he'll continue to reach out to the district manager in Edwardsville.

But he says he holds Mr. Patell in high regard and would hate to delay the Junction's annexation while waiting for the lumber yard. Johnson does say annexing both parcels together would be terrific for the the city's economy.
