2012 Galesburg Visitor's Guide Unveiled
It's not available just yet, but the 2012 Galesburg Visitor's Guide is at the presses.

Judy Guenseth is the Executive Director of the Galesburg Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

She tells the WGIL Morning News the cover to the "Experience Galesburg" booklet features a vintage photograph of a downtown scene from the 1920s.

"It's very exciting, and it does cover celebrating the 175th anniversary, and that's on the front," Guenseth said. "Kind of the theme for it is 'experience the historic, but enjoy the contemporary', and that's kind of how I feel about Galesburg.

"We have a lot of history but we also have some modern day things to attract people."

Guenseth says she doesn't want people to get the impression that the Galesburg experience is stale.

While still embracing Galesburg's history of railroad commerce, she says the 2012 guide promotes all of the unique new plans for the city,

The contemporary setting and experience is what Galesburg needs to utilize to attract visitors according to the tourism director.
