Investigation Continues into Bowling Alley Fire
A business in Henderson County well-known to locals was destroyed by fire on Christmas Eve.

That's according to the Henderson County Sheriffs Department. Sheriff Steve Haynes says a number of area fire department, even two from Iowa, were called to Charlie's Country Fun Restaurant just before two a-m for a report of a fire.

There's no word on exactly how long it took to get the blaze under control and then out, but Haynes says crews remained on the scene as late as eight a-m putting out hot spots.

One eyewitness tells WGIL the building is believed to be a total loss.

The restaurant also had a bowling alley, which was used by the state champion West Central High School Bowling Team.

Crews from Biggsville, Gladstone, Oquawka, Central Warren, Burlington, and West Burlington were among the numerous departments called to the scene.

A State Fire Marshall investigator is believed to be investigating, but so far, the cause is reported as undetermined.
