Galesburg Man Faces Meth Charges
A Galesburg man faces a host of felony drug charges after authorities discovered the makings of a methamphetamine lab in his car Christmas Eve.

The Knox County Sheriffs Department is just now releasing details of the arrest made Saturday evening, when deputies pulled a vehicle over for speeding on a rural Knox County road.

Officials say the deputy who pulled over 31-year old Jerel Deatherage's vehicle noticed an odor of methamphetamine, and items allegedly used in meth-manufacturing inside the car.

A legal search, they say, is believed to have turned up pseudoephedrine packs, a digital scale, and about 100 grams of a liquid substance the State Police Methamphetamine Response Team determined was liquid meth.

Deatherage has been formally charged with Class-X felony counts of Participation in Methamphetamine Production, Participation in Meth Manufacturing, Possession of Meth, and Possession of Meth with Intent to Deliver.

He also faces Class-Two felony counts of Possession of Meth-Manufacturing Chemicals, and Possession of a Meth Precursor.

Deatherage was taken to the Knox County Jail. Bond information is not available, but court records indicate his next court date is January 30th.
