Paulsgrove Approved for County Board
A former Galesburg alderman who was at one time a candidate for mayor in Galesburg is back in local government -- this time, on the Knox County Board.

The board voted 11-1 Wednesday night to appoint Rollie Paulsgrove to the seat on the board from District-One, which was vacated when Allen Pickrel resigned just before Thanksgiving, citing personal reasons.

Paulsgrove, in addition to being a former alderman and mayoral candidate, is retired with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.

The lone "no" vote came from District-Three Democrat Pam Davidson, who did not explain why she voted "no".

For his part, Paulsgrove says he doesn't want to let anyone down.

The board Wednesday night also approved a new two-year contract with the county's highway department employees. The deal includes 2.5% percent pay raises annually, and is retroactive to December first.

The board also learned through Chairman Greg Bacon that the state paid nearly $1.2 Million toward its stack of over $4 million in unpaid bills within the last month.

Most of the money went to the Knox County Nursing Home, while some also went to the Knox County Mary Davis Home.
