Galesburg Police Officer Receives Head Butt
A Galesburg police officer fell victim to a head butt early Friday following an alleged hit and run.

Police reports indicate a white toyota camry was suspected of side swiping a ford explorer on the corner of E. North and North Broad around 12:30 Friday morning.

21-year old Nathan Davison of Galesburg was a passenger inside the vehicle according to records.

Police say when Davison was located in a nearby residence and placed in the back of a squad car, he managed to pull out his cell phone to attempt to make a call.

Meanwhile authorities say they were searching the area for two females, one the driver of the toyota camry. Reports show an officer noticed Davidson attempting to make a call and he reached into the squad car to take the phone.

It was then police say Davison resisted and managed to head butt the officer, leaving a small bump on the officers head.

Police say Davison was initially going to be arrested for only assault because of threatening language aimed towards witnesses of the alleged hit and run. Instead police are charging him with aggravated battery to a peace officer with one count of assault.

Davison is currently being held inside Knox County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
