Annual Festival of Trees Thursday Night in Galesburg
It continues to grow each year, and Thursday evening the Discovery Depot Children's Museum in Galesburg may be filled with more holiday spirit than ever.

The Annual Festival of Trees runs from 5:30 to 8:30 Thursday night at the Discovery Depot. There will be silent and live auctions, and also floral packages just for sale.

Discovery Depot Executive Director Matt Warnsing tells the WGIL Morning News all proceeds benefit the depot.

"This is our largest fundraiser of the year," Warnsing said. "Last year we brought in right under $30,000 dollars. And it all goes right to our operational funds to pay for new exhibits, pay for staff, programming, stuff like that."

Items to bid on during the live auction include sports memorabilia, kitchen appliances and even a 50 inch plasma television. There is also a condo in Florida and on the Gulf Shore for bid.

Silent auction items include Peoria Riverman and Northwestern basketball tickets, and an overnight stay at a hotel and casino.

Warnsing says 230 people turned out for the Discovery Depot Festival of Trees last year.

He says there will complimentary appetizers from HyVee and beverages, beginning at 5:30pm.
