Easy Pickings for County Board Elections
Every seat on the Knox County Board is up for election next year, and so far, there's room left at the inn.

Of the 15 seats available on the Knox County Board, virtually every incumbent has filed the necessary paperwork by this past Monday's deadline to run again, and there's only one newcomer.

Former Galesburg alderman and Republican Rollie Paulsgrove is running for one of the open County Board seats from District One. That's the district Allen Pickrel just resigned from, and the district with which incumbents Lyle Johnson and Cheryl Nache still run on.

A caucus to fill the remainder of Pickrel's term is next Wednesday, and so far, it would appear that Paulsgrove is the favorite.

County Board Chair Greg Bacon, however, missed the deadline to run for his seat in District Two, and a request for comment by WGIL from Bacon has so far gone not responded to.

Only incumbents Bill Abel and Paul Stewart are running for their seats from that district, leaving Bacon's seat open.

District-three board member Tim Hasten is apparently also not running for his seat, as records indicate he didn't file for re-election either. Incumbents Barb Foster and Pam Davidson are running.

District Four has only incumbents David Erickson, George Knapp, and Shawn Pittman running again. Erickson and Pittman are seeking their first full terms.

And Rick Sandoval, David Serven, and Jeff Jefferson are running for their Distirct-Five seats.

Meaning, there will be virtually no opposition in next year's elections unless write-ins surface.
