Health Department Approves Fiscal Year Budget, Again
The Knox County Health Department had already approved its 2012 fiscal year budget in July, but recent action from the state rendered a second vote of approval.

Administrator Heidi Britton tells WGIL the two-point-five million dollar budget amended by the board of health this past week gives a clearer picture of what state funding will be available.

"We were not aware of how many of the state contracts we would receive, from the Illinois Department of Public Health and Department of Human Services," Britton said. "Over the past six months we have received all of our contracts."

"We know how much money we are going to be receiving from the state and based on that, there has been an additional one-percent increase."

That's an extra one-percent increase for employees under salary.

In July, Knox County Health Department non-contractual employees were set for only a two-percent pay raise in the 2012 fiscal year budget.

Britton says the three percent raises will very much appreciated because it's something the health department staff has not been accustomed to.
