A Trip Back In Time
Old time music and a semi-guided tour of days long gone came to life Sunday afternoon.

Family, friends and those interested in Galesburg's past came out so see Al Reed's home movies.

Reed was a Galesburg resident and entrepreneur who enjoyed bring entertainment to the African American and Mexican American community.

Reed's youngest daughter Charlotte Razor was in attendance and narrated parts of the hour and a half movie--pointing out her family members as well as locations.

Razor tells WGIL her father loved making home movies and would invite the neighborhood to share his movies and provide some entertainment.

"He was interested in showing the movies, showing movies that he produced and also movies that were just for the general public. We had in our backyard movies set up and he would show movies say on a weekend."

Razor says her father gave the African American community the opportunity to see movies staring African American Actors not released in the area.

She says they'd charge 25 cents a ticket for people to see the movies--much different than what we pay today.
