Gun Instructor Reacts To Concealed Carry Ruling
A former Galesburg resident and gun expert says the voice of the people has been heard with the federal appellate court ruling yesterday striking down Illinois' ban on concealed weapons.

Casey Fuller is a Chicago-area firearm safety instructor who did a class in town on the subject last summer, and says the voices of gun owners in the state are finally being recognized, and soon, they'll have the same rights in Illinois gun owners do in the other 49 states.

Fuller tells the WGIL Evening News there's a lot left for lawmakers to do before they can put a concealed carry law on the books.

"It's still up to a lot of discussion what policies and procedures are going to be in place in order to have the process go through," says Fuller. "Man, we're surely excited it's even going to this step."

State Representative Don Moffitt tells WGIL he supports any measure allowing concealed carry, under the right circumstances.

"The state will have to opportunity to pass reasonable restrictions," says Moffitt. "That would include criminal background checks and would include training requirements and things like that."

Moffitt says the ruling came as no surprise. In a press release, State Representative Norine Hammond said the ruling reiterates that Illinois' concealed carry ban goes too far.
