A Christmas Homecoming
It was a happy day for family and friends of members of the 444-th Chemical Company.

It was a packed house Saturday morning at the National Guard Readiness Center as people gathered holding signs that read "welcome home" and t-shirts that read "my soldier's finally home"

The whole ceremony took all of fifteen minutes as members if the National Guard thanked the 444-th for their service to their country.

For Chris McCurry and family welcoming home his daughter Stephanie was the best Christmas present he could get.

He tells WGIL it was a hard year with his daughter away and not really knowing what was going on.

"Its been very different. You don't know what to expect. You try to think the best but you see what's on T.V and and your get your imagination running wild about that and it's very difficult."

McCurry says his daughter has already made it very clear when she gets home the first thing she wants to do is eat some pizza and drink some beer.

He says that's where the families headed after the ceremony and as for Christmas they'll just be spending time together catching up.

The 444-th Chemical Company spent the last year at Camp Virginia in Kuwait helping support "Operation Enduring Freedom."

The group helped transition Camp Virginia from a short-term stop for Soldiers to a long-term area.
