Many Running for Local School Board Seats
A number of familiar and not-so-familiar faces are running for seats on local school boards in the April consolidated election.

There are a number of people running for three seats on the Galesburg School Board.

Incumbents Barry Swanson, Robert Lindstrom, and Rick Welty are running for their seats in April, and Swanson only has competition from Galesburg Community Foundation head Josh Gibb.

All others are running for Lindstrom and Welty's seats on the board. Among them are recent Galesburg High School graduate Kole Kenan, community volunteer and activist Naomi Law, former candidate Faye Schultz, and Jeremie Kilgore, a local resident.

Meantime, in Knoxville, three incumbents are running for their seats, and one of them has a challenger.

Board president Bob Bogard is running for another term, as is vice president and former Knoxville High School Principal Patrick Callihan, and board member John Putnam, also a teacher in the Galesburg School District.

They'll face longtime resident Randy Bryan, who helped the district with its new athletic complex which formally opened in the fall.
