Library Board Construction Committee Makes Decision
The full Galesburg Public Library Board will have a couple of important decisions to make Thursday about the status of the library's proposed construction project.

The board's Construction Committee met yesterday and determined that they will have three possible architects to interview in the early stages of next year, along with four possible firms that could be Construction Manager.

Construction Committee Chair Mike Kroll tells WGIL as it turned out, the committee was pretty connected in terms of which firms could become Construction Manager.

"I sent out a thing to each of the board members who had the chance to go through their materials and whatnot. And I asked them to send me a ranking one through seven on the seven construction managers. The top four were remarkably close for everybody just like the architects, I was shocked at how much of a consensus we had for architects, and it's one of those things that I didn't expect but I was very pleasantly pleased."

Kroll says the Construction Manager candidates will all be interviewed in the coming months with a final recommendation coming in February or March.

The architectural firms will be a part of a design competition planned for late-January -- similar to the process by which an architect was picked for the Galesburg School District's Master Facilities Plan.
