Change in Sunday Liquor Sales Recommended
Alcohol sale times may be moving if the Galesburg City Council approves an ordinance recommended Monday night by the Liquor Advisory Commission.

The Commission met to review a draft ordinance - which would move Sunday liquor sales from noon to 7 am before approving the measure.

Several questions were brought during discussions about a possible increase in domestic violence and driving under the influence.

Commission Chairman Curt Kramer tells WGIL there isn't enough data to say there will be an increase.

"Well obviously that's something we have no idea about, ya know we can go back and we can look at you know how many DUI drivers we've had in Galesburg and Knox County on Sunday morning between certain hours and certain hours, but specifically after the hours if and fact it has changed we don't have that data."

The Liquor Advisory Commission also heard from Champaign Police Officer Scott Friedlein about adopting a social host ordinance.

Such an ordinance would make any adult with knowledge of underage drinking liable and subject to fines.

The Commission plans to work on a social host ordinance at the beginning of next year.

Their next meeting in January 14th.
