City Council Hopes to End Budget Standstill
The Galesburg City Council hopes to come to a consensus with a special budget work session scheduled for Wednesday night.

The Council will be taking a look at the operating budget as part of Wednesday's meeting.

Aldermen have disagreed in recent weeks about the role the City should play in attracting businesses and residents to the City.

Possible cuts to an agreement with District 205's Sundberg baseball field have already been discussed.

The Council failed to pass an increase in the electric use, gas use, and the property tax levy to help fund the proposed 90 million dollar budget in recent weeks.

Some aldermen have said they refuse to approve certain measures unless the City changes the way it goes about approving a budget.

The meeting starts at 5:30 Wednesday at Galesburg City Hall.
