|Richard W. Reid, 82, of Galesburg, died at 8:22 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born March 19, 1931 in Galva, Ill. the son of Gilbert and Maxine Reid. He married Mary Lou Hagerty on September 25, 1946 in Kewanee, Ill. She preceded him in death March 21, 2000.
He is survived by two sons, Jim (and Laura) Reid and Steven (and Christine) Reid, both of Galesburg; a daughter, Mary (and Bob) Daves of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Amy (and Tim) Miller, Scott Reid, Matt (and Loni) Reid, Jason (and Danielle) Reid, Megan (and John) VanVleet, and Josh (and Kelsey) Reid; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Joe (and Judy) Reid of Freeport, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Daniel; and two brothers, Dale and John.
Richard was an architectural draftsman for Alexander Lumber Company for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He graduated from Galva High School in 1949 and attended Bradley University.
Richard served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Greg Fitch will officiate. Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery with military rites.
