|Nathaniel Gordon was born to Mable Swilley and Nathaniel Gordon on June 6, 1933. He was reared with 2 brothers and 3 sisters on the Southside of Chicago. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to music and playing cards.
Nathaniel was educated in Chicago Public Schools. In 1949, he accepted Christ when he was confirmed Catholic at 16 years old. From 1951 - 1956 he served in the United States Air Force. When he returned home he became a bus driver for Chicago Transit Authority and after putting in over ten years he was later employed as a train conductor for the BNSF railroad. He worked there for 28 years and retired proud in October 1997.
During his journey, he touched so many hearts and opened up doors for others. He was graceful but a strong person. He was affectionately nicknamed "Junie" by family and "Flash" by his railroad buddies. His subtle personality made him a rich man as he stood tall and confident in every conquest.
He met and married Lynn in 1988.
He departed his journey on August 5, 2012 leaving his loving wife Lynn, preceded in death by 1 daughter Valencia, and and 1 son Reginald. He is survived by 2 sons Nathaniel Jr., and Nathon, 1 daughter CeCi (Pete), 1 stepdaughter Michele; 5 granddaughters Deneen, Valencia, Destini, Toni, Erikah; 2 grandsons Ferrian Jr., and Khyree; 3 great grandsons Jonathan, Christopher and Sebastian and host of family and friends.
He will be truly missed by us all. He leaves us with great memories and laughs in our hearts. Nathaniel Gordon was a beloved husband, a loving father and truly a good friend.
