|Mr. Robert R. Tingley, 77, of Galesburg died at 10:27 pm Sunday, October 13, 2013 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born March 5, 1936 in Galesburg the son of Francis David and Geneva House Tingley.
He is survived by his son, Bob W. Tingley of Galesburg, Ill.; three daughters, Connie M. (and Zan) Carter of Galesburg, Cindy K. Tingley and Chris A. (and Mark) Robertson both of Galesburg; one brother, F. D. (and Bev) Tingley, Jr. of Columbus, Ind.; one sister, Carolyn (Bud) McNeil of Roscoe, Ill.; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is his life time partner of thirty nine years, Susan Smith and her fourteen children and sixty nine grand and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brad, a brother Jim, and a sister, Jean Stranger-Robinson, one grandson and one granddaughter.
Robert worked as a conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years. He retired March 5, 1997. He was a member of the Masonic Vesper Lodge and a member of the United Transportation Union. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM Thursday October 17, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Mrs. Eleanor Landon officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday evening at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
