|Dorothy Joan McConnell, 79, 1689 W. North St., Galesburg, died at 11:22 AM Wednesday, January 13, 2010 in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born November 26, 1930 in Miller, IN, the daughter of John and Bernice (Pop and Bernie) Clark. She married Richard "Duke" Graflund and later married Steve McConnell on October 20, 1977 in Wataga. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1997.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Poeschell (and Greg) Curtis of Galesburg and Renee (and Scott) Maxwell of Abingdon, 4 granddaughters, Britny Maxwell, Morgan Maxwell, Jessica Teel, and Kelsey Levandowski, 6 grandsons, Bradley (and Harmony) Graflund, Thomas (Curtis) Pflasterer, Ryan (Curtis) Pflasterer, Tresten Maxwell, Tyler (Curtis) Henry, and Gregory Levandowski, 5 great grandchildren, including special great grandson, Tyson Graflund, a brother, John (and Setsuko) Clark of Miller, IN, her lifelong friend, Irene Giese of Portage, IN, her dear friend, David Graflund of Galesburg, and her German Shepherd companion, Sabe. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Evelyn, and a niece, Vickie Watters. She was also preceded in death by Ruby Graflund.
She worked at US Steel in Gary, IN for 15 years as a mill operator. She later owned M & W Tool and Die in Galesburg for 10 years. She graduated from William Wirt High School in Gary, IN. She loved the American flag, her family, and friends.
