Rask, Hester Janett
Hester Janett Rask 86 of London Mills, IL passed away Wednesday January 20, 2010 3:30 pm at her home.

She was born October 2, 1923 in Oneida, IL the daughter of Harry William and Ada Ethel Peterson Adams. She married Mannie Eugene Rask on February 3, 1946 in Galesburg, IL; he preceded her on October 7, 2004.

She is survived by one son Charles (Suzanne) Rask of Farmington, IL; two daughters Janet (Jerry) Woodall of Visalia, CA and Carol Neiheisel of London Mills, IL; 6 grandchildren Mark, Jill, Joy, Molly, and James. She was preceded in death by her parents husband 2 sons (Donald and Roger) 2 sister and 1 brother.

Hester was born and raised in Oneida. She was baptized in the Oneida Presbyterian Church on April 10, 1926. She graduated from Oneida High School; during high school she was an accomplished vocal musician and pianist. She graduated from Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in 1944 and became licensed as a registered nurse.

During her professional career as a registered nurse she worked as Area Supervisor at Galesburg State Research Hospital and later as a Community Placement Coordinator for Galesburg Mental Health Center. She retired from Zellars Mental Healthcare Center in Peoria. She served as Mayor of London mills from 1974-1979, while she served as Mayor; London Mills installed a new sewer system and established a Medical Center.

She was a very active member of the London Mills United Methodist Church and the London Mills Women's Club. After she retired she enjoyed gardening, traveling, fishing and her grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Monday January 25, 2010, 11:00am at the London Mills United Methodist Church, where family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00am. Rev. Paul Newhall will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
