Ball, Jon E.
Jon E. Ball, age 74, of Aledo, died Friday, January 22, 2010 in his home. Services are 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Reynolds cemetery. Visitation is from 3 - 7 PM Monday at the Funeral Home where Masonic Services will be conducted at 7 PM. A memorial fund will be established and online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

He was born December 28, 1935 in Davenport, Iowa a son of Elbert and Jean Beresford Ball. He graduated Class President from Reynolds High School in 1954 and was a graduate of Iowa State University.

Jon was employed at Lafferty Elevator in Indianola, Iowa prior to a long and successful career in Sales Management for Moormans Manufacturing in Alpha, Illinois. He was an Independent Insurance Agent to area Farmers for many years and was a very active member of the Illinois FFA where he was at one time Vice President and presided over the State Convention.

His memberships include the College Avenue Presbyterian Church having been a member and elder of the former Perryton Presbyterian Church, an active member of the FFA Alumni and the FFA Foundation, the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge # 679 and an active member of the Mercer County Republican Party.

His words of wisdom and his sharing of those words are an inspiration to his family, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and attending local sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, 3 daughters, Linda (Dale) Bertelsen of Monmouth, IL, Ruth (Jerry) Lamour of Oak Park, Il. Mary Kay (Lauren) Crawford of Taylor Ridge, Il, 1 son, Doug (Darla) Ball of Aledo, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 sister Kathy Wilson of Rock Island, Il. A brother Fred Ball of Honolulu and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
