Sullivan, Lorene E.
Mrs Lorene E. Sullivan, age 89, of 311 E. Simmons St., Galesburg, IL, died Friday January 14, 2011 at 3:10 p.m. at Cottage Hospital.

She was born August 3, 1921 in Fulton County the daughter of Loren and Mary Leonard Trone. She married Willis W. Sullivan on June 1, 1941. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1979.

Lorene is survived by two sons, Donald Sullivan and Charles Sullivan, both of Galesburg, one daughter, Janice Sullivan of Peoria, Ill., one brother, Charles W. Trone of Rushville, Ill., one sister, Marifrances Ralston of Beardstown, Ill., one granddaughter, Lori (and Mark) Beetler, and two great granddaughters, Megan and Alyssa.

She was preceded in death by one son and one sister.

She graduated from Astoria High School in 1940. Lorene helped her husband farm and also worked at the Galesburg State Research Hospital in the clothing department for 20 years retiring in 1981.

She was a volunteer at Cottage Hospital and Community Foundation over 25 years covering 9000 hours. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Methodist Women holding various offices. She was a member of the Knox County Artist Guild, a 4-H Club Leader for 3 years and advisor for 9 years. She also volunteered at the Galesburg Chamber of Commerce as a step-on guide, the Red Cross for 6 years and was a Gallup poll worker for 5 years. She helped judge DAR essays for 30 years. Lorene had many interests and hobbies. She was published in 4 national magazines, painted and did restoration of antique dolls.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday January 21, 2011 at Faith United Methodist Church at the corner of Knox and Day St. Galesburg with Rev. Linda Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery, Astoria, Ill. at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, the Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
