Michael P. Carlson, 50, 239 S. Cherry St., Galesburg, died at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1960 in Galesburg, the son of Eugene F. and Rose Marie Carroll Carlson.
He is survived by three brothers, Marc E. (Marcy) Carlson of Belton, Mo., Chris D. (Susan) Carlson and Eric J. (Stacy) Carlson, both of Galesburg, and a sister, Susan M. (Pete) Mercier of Fort Collins, Colo., 12 nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Michael attended Warren Achievement and worked for KCCDD. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Mike was a big Cubs fan and was never separated from his favorite ball caps. He had an infectious smile and giggle, and his shy nature belied his mischievous side. He liked walking around the neighborhood of his Jefferson Street home and later enjoyed outings with St. Mary's Square and the KCCDD staff. Mike loved cats, especially Garfield and never met a potato product he didn’t like especially Lay's Potato Chips. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
