|Ronald L. Erickson, 67, of Galesburg, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at home.
He was born April 17, 1943 in Galesburg, the son of Curtis H. and Delorse B. Foreman Erickson. He married Debby L. Lester on March 1, 1969 in Galesburg. They later divorced and remained friends.
He is survived by a son, Dennis Erickson of Galesburg, a daughter, Lisa Singh of Galesburg, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a special friend, Alice Peterson of Galesburg, a brother, Michael Erickson of Galesburg, and a sister, Diane (and Mike) Kelly of Boca Raton, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis.
Ronald was a brick mason for his entire life. He worked at the former Galesburg State Research Hospital. He owned and operated several construction businesses. He was active with the Republican Party and served on the Knox County Board. Ronald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was an avid collector of coins, baseball memorabilia, and elephant statues. He was a boxing coach with the Galesburg Youth Athletic Club and was a former Boy Scout leader.
Ronald served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during his tour of duty.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 22, at the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church with a luncheon following the service.
