John S. Postma, 86, of Gerlaw, IL, died at 12:19 P.M. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.
John was born Nov. 6, 1924, at Portsmith, Ohio, the son of Peter and Margaret (McGatha) Postma. He was raised and educated in the Portsmith area.
John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a truck driver for Fruhauf Corp in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking.
John was a life member of the Continental, Ohio American Legion.
He is survived by one sister, Anna Kukunis of Homeworth, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son Larry Postma
Cremation has been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental, Ohio at a later date. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth is in charge of arrangements.
