|Marilyn Howarter, age 88, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 3:58 A.M. on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on July 3, 1922 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence A. and Bertha Dallefeld Mitchell. She married R. Wayne Howarter on April 25, 1942 in Maquon, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2005.
Surviving are one son, Terry Dean Howarter of Gilson, Illinois; two granddaughters; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Harris of Galesburg, Illinois and Jean Cheeseman of Springfield, Oregon; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers; four sisters and one son: Stephen Wayne Howarter.
She was raised and educated in Maquon, Illinois, graduating from Hawcreek Township High School in 1940. She was a homemaker and licensed practical nurse. She was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Linda Harris officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 from 10:00 until 11:30 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
