Abingdon – Robert L. Courson, 78, of RR Abingdon, died at 5:23 pm Friday, January 28, 2011 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Bob was born on September 6, 1932 in Abingdon, the son of Lon and Eva Lucille (Wilkins) Courson.
He is survived by his companion of thirty-three years, Jo Stick; his daughters, Debbie Raymond of RR Abingdon, Roxanne Courson of Galesburg, Melissa Wackt of Bloomington and Deana Bower of Abingdon; his grandchildren, Craig Wackt, Jr., Kristopher Wackt, Steven Wackt, Jennifer Wackt, Sarah Wackt, Ashley Bower and Travis Bower; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Eva Dorene Guenther.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1950. He worked at Admiral/Maytag Factory in Galesburg for over forty years before he retired. His hobbies included going to auctions, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 Monday at the chapel.
