Johnson, O. Anne King
O. Anne King Johnson, 89, of Columbia Heights, East Galesburg, Ill. died at 7 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Cottage Hospital.

She was born January 14, 1922, Victoria, Ill. the daughter of Thomas C. and Olive A. Dawson King. She married L. DeWayne Johnson on August 31, 1946 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1989.

She is survived by her son, Bruce D. Johnson of Knoxville, Ill.; her grandchildren, Todd (Jamie) Johnson of Oneida, Ill., Rebecca J. (Gavin) Jones of Knoxville, Kelly Johnson of Galesburg, and Sarah J. (Tony) Vince of Galesburg and her great grandchildren, Jacob, Michael, Joshua, Marcus, Madison, Grace, Bryce, Wyatt and Emma. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Keith, Charles, and Thomas and her sisters, Florence, Mary, and Pansy.

Anne worked for the Douglas Airport Corporation, Calif. as a Rosie the Riveter accountant during WWII. She later worked for Illinois Power Company and the Consumer Elevator, both in Galesburg. She was joint partner of Johnson Excavating with her husband and developed both Farnham Fairway (Bird Land) and Columbia Heights Subdivisions. She was an accountant and tax preparer for many in the community. She graduated from Victoria Community High School in 1939. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church from 1948-2012. She belonged to WELCA and the Miriam Circle. She enjoyed playing card with her friends, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anne was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Memorial services are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Cremation will follow services. Burial will be at a later date in Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
