|Robert H. Miller, 77, of Galesburg died at 10:31 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in Rosewood Care Center.
He was born October 14, 1934 in Keokuk, Iowa the only child of Charles E. and Ruby Parsons Miller. He married Norma Jean Snow. He later married Mary C. Wolf in Galesburg in 1993. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Robert C. (Jackie) Miller of Galesburg; a step son, Dan (Mary) Wolf of Galesburg; a step daughter, Kathy (John) Leafgren of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Casey Neff and Jonathon Miller; four step grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Wolf and Elizabeth and Tory Leafgren and two great grandchildren, Carter Neff and Cameryn Patterson. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Robert worked as a train dispatcher for the former CB & Q Railroad, now Burlington Northern, for 42 years. He retired in 1994. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1952. His senior year of high school the Cubs watched him play and asked Bob if he wanted to play for the Cubs Double A Farm Team in Des Moines, Iowa. He played for one year, before leaving to work for the railroad. He loved baseball and his junior and senior years he played for the Keokuk Merchants Team. He was a member of the Galesburg Railroad Museum and was an avid Chicago Cub and Bears fan.
Funeral services are scheduled for noon, Monday January 16, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
