RObert F. Irwin, 85, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Sunday, Jan.15, 2012 at 10:35 a.m.
Robert was born July 31, 1926 in Winfield, Iowa. He married Florence Marshall on September 11, 1947 in Burlington, Iowa.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Florence; his three children, Anita
Aldus, Marc Irwin, and Joyce Karpay; as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Robert was a Galesburg resident since 1956. A retired conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad, Robert has been a cancer survivor since 1978; he finally succumbed to an inoperable tumor under care at his home.
Robert was a Marine veteran of the Asian Pacific conflict and invasion of Japan in WWII.
