Vaughn, Allen W.
Allen W. Vaughn, age 63, of East Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:20 A.M. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born on July 19, 1948 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Noyce and Lucille Phillips Vaughn. He married Mary L. Pigeon on September 19, 2003 in Galesburg, Illinois.

His wife, Mary L. Vaughn of East Galesburg, Illinois, survives him. One son, Kevin Vaughn of Murrieta, California; two daughters, Melanie (Robert) Walker of Big Bear Lake, California and Adriana (Rusty) Free of Greenville, South Carolina. Six Grandchildren; Madison Walker, Austin Free, Joshua Vaughn, Megan Vaughn, Callie Free, and Reed Walker.
His parents of Lake Isabella, California. One brother, Michael L. Vaughn of Lake Isabella, California and one sister Cynthia (David) Ziminskee of Los Angeles, California. One brother, John and one sister, Shirley, preceded him in death.

He served in the United State Army from October 12, 1966 until September 21, 1969. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 2 Purple Hearts, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, and Sharp Shooter M14.

He owned and operated Multi-Facets, which designed and manufactured Rimless Eye Wear in Corona, California. In July of 2003, he and his wife purchased, owned and operated the Mobil Gas Stations in Galesburg and Knoxville, Illinois, and then they owned only the Knoxville location.
He was a member of the Harry Philblad American Legion Post #749 of Knoxville, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois, Rev. Michel D. Clark Officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville. In-Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. On-line condolences or sympathy cards may be sent through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
