Donaldson, Dudley Martin
Dudley Martin Donaldson, 82, of Galesburg, Ill. died 7:50 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.

He was born December 6, 1929 in rural Maquon, Ill. to John and Lorraine Pattee Donaldson. He married Norma Lee Vernoy October 8, 1948 in Avon, Ill. She preceded him in death April 15, 2006.

Surviving are three daughters, Janet (and Jerry) Barkley of London Mills, Ill., Lee (and Jerry) Hodgeman of Knoxville, Ill. and Sherri (and David) Kalb of Montrose, Iowa, seven grandchildren, Todd Hodgeman, Lannette (and Brian) Jennings, Joey Hodgeman, Leslie (and Jamie Thompson) Hodgeman, Alisha Kalb, Jacob Kalb and Stacy (and Michael) Watson and eight great-grandchildren, Logan Thompson, Kyle Hodgeman, Conner McCarty, Brayden McCarty, Briar Jennings, Brenna Jennings, Brody Thompson and Michael Watson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Dudley graduated from Avon High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He was a conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad for 41 years and retired in 1992. He was a member of Avon Federated Church and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. He was a member of the Masons and Shriners. Dudley enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. He was also interested in archaeology and participated in several digs at Western Illinois University, Macomb, Ill.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jon Prain will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life, American Legion Post #285 or Avon Federated Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
