|Priscilla H. Hawkinson, 61, of Galesburg, Ill. died 8:52 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at her home.
She was born April 11, 1950 in Morton, Ill. to Robert and Agnes Nafziger Hartzler. She married Charles E. Hawkinson October 5, 1976 in Galesburg. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Suzanne (and Jason) Ryan of Aurora, Ill. and Stephanie E. Hawkinson of East Peoria, Ill.; a brother, Stan (and Shelia) Hartzler of Texas; two sisters, Ila (and Neal) Stoltzfus of Baton Rouge, La. and Alice (and Jon) Kennel of Eureka, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Adeline, Allison and Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Priscilla worked for OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg as a transcriptionist, then in public relations and was the medical staff coordinator for a total of 15 years. She later was a self employed tailor for ten years. She was a realtor for the past 13 years, the last several years with Century 21/ Tucker Swanson in Galesburg. She graduated from Morton High School, Morton, Ill. in 1968 and she graduated from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Ill. Priscilla was raised attending the First Mennonite Church in Morton. She later became a member of the Covenant Church in Galesburg, where she was past chairman of the Diaconate and was a Sunday school teacher. She was former chairman of the Fellowship of Churches of Galesburg. She was past president of the Knox County Republican Women and Pilot Club. She was a member of the Illinois and National Association of Realtors. She was recognized annually for sales accomplishments as a realtor. She enjoyed contributing to the Register Mail Roundtable for the last several years.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Covenant Church, Galesburg. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service.
