Wells, Marjorie Joyce Dixon Hicks
Marjorie Joyce Dixon Hicks Wells, 87, formerly of 453 N. Pleasant Ave., Galesburg, died at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born July 18, 1924 in Streator, Ill., the daughter of George and Harriet Hamman Dixon. She first married R. Donald "Bob" Hicks on February 20, 1943 in Camp Lee, Va. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1972. She and Bob were charter members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and were active in church and school affairs. She later married Frank W. Wells on June 2, 1973 in Galesburg. They moved from the parish and became active members of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where they were members of the Church Council and served as Eucharistic Ministers. After his death October 14, 1990, she once again became a member of IHM.

She is survived by a son, Michael (Cheryl) Hicks of Wheatland, Wyo.; a daughter, Susan (Dan) Kirchgessner of Galesburg; two step sons, Michael Wells of Winder, Ga. and James Wells of Moline, Ill.; a step daughter, Mary Ann Myler of Winder, Ga.; brother, John R. (Shirley) Dixon of Hammel, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Diane; and a step son, Jack Wells.
Marjorie was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg Rescue Mission or to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
