Mary L. Helms, 61, of Abingdon, Ill, formerly of Galesburg, died at 9:17 am Monday, January 2, 2012 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born July 28, 1950 in Galesburg the daughter of Clarence E. and Jennie V. Myers Gilmore SR. She married Roger L. Helms SR on October 8, 1966 in Macomb, Ill. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter Virginia L. Wood of Abingdon, her grandson Josh Gilbert and several nieces and nephews that loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Roger L. Helms JR on January 10, 1999.
Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed making crafts.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Don Reynolds will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 am Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Hamlet Cemetery Hamlet Ill. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com. |
