Robert Wayne Westergard, 71, of Galesburg, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at home.
He was born September 30, 1941 in Battle Creek, Mich. the son of Andrew and Bernice Rounds Westergard. He married Twila Maxine "Macky" Johnson in 1978 in Garland, Texas. She preceded him in death September 17, 2007.
He is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Ann Kryzanski of Tahlequah, Okla. and Nancy Ann (and George) Russell from McKinney, Texas; children, J.D. and Jimmy Westergard and Jan Marie, all in Michigan; step-son, Rick (and Linda) Foster of Abingdon, Ill.; grandson, Anthony (and Jessie) Foster; and great grandchildren, Lillian and Reese Foster.
Bob worked in commercial mechanical construction as a pipefitter and welder. He served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1964. He was a member of Elks Lodge #894 and the National Rifle Association.
Bob requested that his body be cremated. His and Macky's remains will be buried together at the Abingdon Cemetery. There will be no public visitation or service.
