|Donna Rose Darmer, age 85 of Abingdon, died at 9:31 pm Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born on May 28, 1927 in Berwick, the daughter of Lester and Pauline (Meadows) Landon. She married Remley "Rex" Darmer on November 2, 1944 in Amarillo, Texas.
Donna is survived by her husband Rex; four sons, Stephen R. Darmer of Abingdon, William R. (and May) Darmer of Italy, Richard C. (and Vickie) Darmer of Belleville and David R. (and Michelle) Darmer of Abingdon; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon (and Paul) Way of Abingdon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, two brothers, three sisters and a very special nephew.
She had lived in Abingdon all of her life. She was homemaker. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church and the Abingdon Historical Society. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and talking about and answering questions on the history of Abingdon.
Cremation was accorded. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Abingdon Christian Church. Rev. Darryl McDaniel will officiate. The family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service in the church fellowship area. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
