|Delbert Goff, 87, of Abingdon died at 5:20 am Monday, February 8, 2010 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
He was born on November 21, 1922 in Bushnell, the son of Earl and Nettie (Mason) Goff. He married Dorothy L. Goodin.
Delbert is survived by his companion of 34 years, Irene Stull of Abingdon; his children, Larry (Jeanie) Goff, Becky (Eldon) Sharp and Loretta (Doc) Fengel all of Abingdon; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Patsy) Goff of Bushnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two younger brothers.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving during the Philippine Liberation and serving in the Asiatic Pacific American Theatre. He had lived in Abingdon since 1953. He worked at the former Brass Factory and later in maintenance at Abbe Lanes.
Delbert was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and also enjoyed watching western movies.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Bushnell Township Cemetery. Mr. Tim Howard will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. There will be no visitation.
