Stewart, Myrtle Anna
Myrtle Anna Stewart, 93, formerly of Galesburg, IL died Wednesday February 10, 2010 at the Terrace at Blue Grass in Hendersonville, TN.

She was born October 3, 1916 in rural Dahinda, IL the daughter of August and Luellan Norman Eck. She married John "Jack" K. Stewart in Davenport, IA on December 29, 1938. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2009.

She is survived by three sons, Philip (Joyce) Stewart of Hendersonville, TN, James (Debbie) Stewart of Long Grove, IL and Thomas (Peggy) Stewart of St. Charles, IL; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers.

Myrtle worked as the director of food service for Galesburg School District #205 for 16 years. She also worked as a home economist for 7 years at Admiral/Maytag Corporation in Galesburg. She was a member of the Retired Teachers of Knox County, the Knox County Home Extension Association, and was a member, past president and secretary of the Oliver Wendall Holmes Club. She volunteered and served as a board member at the Galesburg Visual Handicapped Center. She graduated from Wataga High School in 1933 and the University of Illinois in 1938.

Myrtle was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and a chairperson of the First United Woman's Circle. She was a member of the official church board serving on various commissions and helping with the youth program.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Monday, February 15, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. Visitation will be noon to 1:30 PM Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
