|Fred H. Bennett, 96, of 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Dr. Galesburg died at 12:02 PM Tuesday February 16, 2010 in Cottage Hospital.
He was born September 11, 1913 in Galesburg IL the son of John A. and Effie M. Lincoln Bennett. He married Eileen Denisar on September 2, 1950 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving is a son Duane A. Bennett of Portland OR; two daughter, Diane (Mel) Wilcoxen and Debra A. Johnson both of Galesburg; one brother Robert C. Bennett of Galesburg; six grandchildren Tara Baker, Jill Bradford, Tanya Baker, Doug Bradford, Frank Cannady and Travis Cannady and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers.
He served in the Army during WWII.
He worked for District #205 as a custodian at Bateman School for 20 years, retiring in 1978. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1932. He was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Fred was a member of the Covenant Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday February 22, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 AM Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
