Baker, Gale C.
Gale C. Baker, 88, of 800 N. Market Knoxville, IL formerly of Galesburg died 2:25 AM Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Knox County Nursing Home.

He was born August 24, 1921 in Avon, IL the son of Ernest and Amanda Clayton Baker.

He is survived by two sons Robert (and Vicki) Baker of Springfield, MO and Michael (and Martha) Baker of Mackinaw, IL, one daughter Brenda Baker of Galesburg, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Gale attended School in Avon where he resided for 30 years and later Galesburg for 57 years. He was a dairy salesman for the Meadow Gold Dairy and Park Drive Dairy in Galesburg for 20 years and a massage therapist for 6 years. He retired February 5, 1977. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post #285. Gale served as a medic in the US Army 30th Infantry Division for over 3 years during WWII.

Cremation will be accorded with graveside services 11:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Avon Cemetery, Avon, IL. Rev. Daniel Smith will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #285. There will be no visitation.
